Frequently Asked Questions – Goat Milk Soap & Homestead Care

Frequently Asked Questions
Why Choose Our Goat Milk Soap?
Every bar we make begins with fresh, whole milk from our own Nigerian Dwarf goats — a breed known for naturally higher butterfat that creates a rich, creamy, comforting lather. We craft each batch slowly and intentionally on our homestead using traditional cold‑process methods, giving you a bar that feels gentle, nourishing, and truly handmade.

What Makes Lil Swatara Soap Special?
Our soaps stand apart because they’re made the old‑fashioned way — with fresh goat milk, hand‑rendered tallow, and premium oils chosen for their creamy lather and skin‑loving benefits. We never use powdered milk, water, or shortcuts. Every bar is poured, cut, stamped, and packaged by hand right here on our homestead.
Our bars are extra large, averaging ~6 oz after cure — nearly double the size of most handmade soaps — giving you a longer‑lasting, more luxurious wash with exceptional value.
If you love premium ingredients, artisan craftsmanship, and a creamy goat‑milk wash that feels indulgent and comforting, our soaps are made for you.
Are All Goat Milk Soaps the Same?
Not even close. Many soaps use water or powdered milk, which simply can’t compare to the richness of fresh, whole goat milk. Our Nigerian Dwarf goats produce naturally higher butterfat, giving our bars their signature creamy, cushiony lather.
Goat milk naturally contains gentle proteins, milk sugars, and nourishing fats that create a silky, comforting wash — without synthetic additives.
Each bar is cold‑processed and cured for 4–5 weeks, creating a firm, long‑lasting bar that holds up beautifully in daily use.
Why Include Tallow in Your Soap?
Our hand‑rendered tallow gives our bars their creamy richness, dense lather, and long‑lasting hardness. Tallow creates a bar that feels silky, stable, and luxurious — the kind that doesn’t get mushy in the shower and lasts far longer than vegetable‑oil soaps. It’s a traditional ingredient that produces a beautifully balanced bar with a smooth, gentle glide.
Does Your Soap Contain Lye?
All true soap is made with lye — it’s what transforms oils into soap. After saponification, no lye remains in the finished bar.
Is Your Soap Tear‑Free or Safe for Children?
Like all real soaps, ours are not tear‑free, so keep away from eyes. Many families choose our unscented bars for babies, toddlers, and sensitive skin.

What’s the Size and Price of Your Soap?
Our bars are hand‑cut at approximately 7 oz and cure down to 5–6 oz. Natural variations make each bar unique. As they continue to cure, they become even harder and longer‑lasting.
Most handmade soaps are 3.5–4 oz — ours are nearly double the size, giving you more creamy lather and exceptional value.
How Long Does a Bar of Soap Last?
With proper drainage, most customers enjoy a bar for 3–4 weeks of daily use. Store unused bars in a cool, dry place to extend their life even further.
