I wanted to take a moment to address shipping, as a small handmade soap business, I strive to provide high-quality Luxury products at affordable prices. While I totally understand the appeal of free shipping, I wanted to explain why I can no longer offer free shipping, (except soap stamps, see that page for details)
My Soaps DO NOT contain CHEAP FILLER OILS like soybean, canola or hydrogenated vegetable oils, the ingredients truly do speak for themselves. Each bar of soap is hand made by me, SallyAnn with my own Nigerian Dwarfs herds Milk, obviously, animal costs, feed, medical, etc. are not figured into soap pricing at all, but I do milk my beautiful does 2x a day for several months a year and collect plenty of milk to freeze for my soapmaking. My bars are typically larger than most handmade soap makers, I cut my handmade soap at 6.5 to 7oz, soap cures at least 4-5 weeks, then I hand cut with the help of my husband or daughter, I take the time to shave down each soap edge so edges are not rough on the body or in hand, I create custom stamps, hand stamp each soap, hand paint if painted w/mica, and I wrap each bar beautifully in a muslin sack with a nice handmade label. Combine this with the above ingredients and that creates soap very unique and luxurious.
Shipping costs are a significant expense for me, and as a small business, I must carefully manage resources to ensure the sustainability of Lil Swatara Soap LLC, which has not been easy the past several years. I ASSURE you that I am constantly exploring ways to improve our shipping options and reduce costs. As shipping companies keep raising prices, it's extremely difficult and remember soap is not light! two bars and its already over a pound!
When large orders over $100 go through Shopify Ap they, Shopify Ap sometimes "auto" charge too much, I have found no way around the defaults of the AP, however, if this is the case, I ALWAYS refund the customer the overage! If I send baskets or large orders for you, you are welcome to email me the order and I would be happy to box & weigh, to figure out EXACT SHIPPING and insurance costs BEFORE purchase. My order was damaged in shipping. What should I do? Please contact us immediately to let us know what happened, and we'll arrange for you to return the damaged item(s) to us and/or advise you on opening a claim with the mail carrier. Do you guarantee your products? We want you to be 100% satisfied with our soap. If for any reason, you are not satisfied, let us know. We'll do our best to make it right for you. Please keep in mind the nature of natural, personal care products, and understand that we cannot accept for exchange items that you have opened, handled, cut or used. We do not accept the return of products because a customer doesn't care for the scent of the product they ordered, and this includes our unscented soaps that have the natural odor of the oils, butters and fats from which they are made. Shipping costs are always non-refundable, but we are open to discuss any issues you may have, send us an email message.
